Storytelling with Data Visualization for SURE, Germany

SURE Atlas, an interactive data visualization platform, design and developed by us, was presented at the World Urban Forum 12 in Egypt, as part of the SURE Facilitation and Synthesis Research initiative. Designed to support sustainable urban development, the Atlas provides tools to analyze and reflect on research efforts across the SURE ecosystem. Key features include Cross Project Analysis for exploring KPIs and outcomes, a Reflection Toolbox to help researchers track their sustainability journey, and a Stakeholder Network Map to visualize connections between institutions and individuals within the program.

Built using voluntarily shared project data, the SURE Atlas is a dynamic, evolving platform led by Digital City Science at HafenCity Universität Hamburg (HCU). It is designed to be intuitive, insightful, and collaborative—encouraging transparency and learning across projects. With its powerful visualizations and integrated tools, the Atlas contributes to shaping data-driven, sustainable urban futures and supports better decision-making for researchers, policymakers, and institutions alike.
